The Lotus Palace - Jeannie Lin

Basically, it's the good old story of the plain girl who's not so plain and who gets the handsome guy.

The mystery is weak and more a pretext to bring the characters together than a carefully plotted intrigue, the romance doesn't need 378 pages and becomes repetitive after a while, I couldn't suspend disbelief to buy the ending, but I liked it anyway because the polished setting allowed me to entertain the illusion I was reading something different.
