Cultural transmission is a funny thing.

My Algerian aunts invaded my home for a summer house cleaning (God help me!) that will last for a few days. We are cleaning and chatting and laughing and sharing familial stories and singing Berber songs, and even though I have an atrocious French accent, the words are mine and I'm feeling as full as exhausted! :D

Idir is a beloved Amazigh singer and the star of our soundtrack, especially  "A Vava Inouva". "Vava" means "Daddy". It's about a girl fearing the things that bump into the night and calling her father.

The original song is a duo and I miss the feminine voive in this version, but this video is a sweet moment of sharing, nostalgy and joy.
